A hello to you, --name--, and to all Lost Lakers, I'd like to start with a special thanks to those of you who have registered or accepted the auto registration for the newsletter. I'm happy to have you aboard this latest endeavour. If you come across a dream member who hasn't registered, please let them know they can do so at http://www.lostlakes.net. The purpose of this newsletter is simple: to allow me to keep in touch with the members of this dream, hear feedback from everyone, and then compile a new letter that addresses your concerns and responses. Consider it sort of a 'Letters to the Editor' style of publication. By making this an email newsletter, with synchronised posting online, we can discuss issues in a way that is orderly but independent of our own schedules. If you have any responses, suggestions, comments, or issues you wish addressed, please email them to me at eva@lostlakes.net. Let me know if you do or do not want your name mentioned if your email is referenced. We begin: In This Issue ============= I - Call to Action: Patching the Dream II - lostlakes.net Serviecs III - Conclusion II - Call to Action: Patching the Dream ======================================= In last month's 'Lost Lake Newsletter Preview,' I addressed that I am looking to reduce the size of the dream and rearrange it. I am still holding firmly to that. In addition to this, patching the dream is something I want to address. I have been spending the last month physically drawing changes to the dream that I would like to see implemented, and these changes would require an entirely new, or in the very least augmented, patch. I will not decide to execute these changes without passing them by you first (look for links to the drawings in the next month), but I think the idea of refining what we understand Lost Lakes to be and how it should look and feel is an important one. With this dream change on the horizon I come to you members with a task. Artists and patch collectors/browsers: help me build Lost Lakes' new patch. I am looking for portraits, items, walls, floors, and sounds that we can use to make the newly imagined dream as dense and detailed a map as possible. This approach will allow you all to help in giving the dream a fresh look and will maintain a balance of elements that each of you, respectively, feel is important. Send me links, actual patches, screenshots, dream names, and even verbal descriptions which all have things you'd like to see added to Lost Lakes. My goal in this is to not only build the dream with community, but also make the patch proper: one with artist and contributor attribution. I'd like to give credit for the dream items where credit is due, and I will -not- add anything in the new dream that is -not- openly usable. Continuing that idea, I am looking for entry music to the dream. Unfortunately, I will not use any music that does not have a license that would allow me use it this way (i.e. most film scores), and free, cheap and/or open music with the grandeur I have in mind can be hard to find. If this interests you, however, please have a look at sources like those below, and assist me in finding an entry song that is suitable for Lost Lakes: http://www.opsound.org/ http://www.magnatune.com/ http://www.jamendo.com/ http://www.ccmixter.org/ http://incompetech.com/m/c/royalty-free/ I look forward to rebuilding the dream with all of you.
